Delete your Life account
You can do this yourself, in the app, in under a minute. No need to ask anyone.
In the app
- Open Life and sign in.
- Tap your profile picture, top right, then Settings.
- Open the Account section.
- Tap Delete Account and confirm.
If you would rather we did it, or you cannot sign in — for example you have lost access to your email — write to the address below from the email address on the account, asking for deletion. We will confirm once it is done, normally within 30 days.
A parent can also ask us to delete a child's account this way.
What gets deleted
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Your sign-in and profile — email, name, picture | Deleted |
| Your personal tasks, shopping, habits, ideas and life plan | Deleted |
| Your completion history and reminder settings | Deleted |
| Your notification token | Deleted — notifications stop |
| Lists you share with other people | You are removed from them. The list itself and its items remain for the people still on it — see below. |
| Record that a free trial was used | Kept. See below. |
| The copy stored on your own device | Removed when you delete the account on that device. On other devices, clear the app's browser data. |
Two things worth knowing first
Shared lists do not disappear with you. If you delete your account, lists you share with your family stay where they are and everyone else keeps using them, including items you added. That is deliberate — one person leaving should not wipe a household's shopping list. Your name and picture are removed from the list's members.
If you want a shared list gone entirely and you created it, delete the list first, then your account.
One record survives deletion. If you have used a free trial, we keep a note that the trial was used, so that deleting an account and signing up again does not hand out unlimited free trials.
It holds no name, no email address and none of your content — the email is put through a one-way scrambling function and only that result is stored, alongside the trial dates. It cannot be turned back into your email address. It also means that if you sign up again later with the same email, your trial will not restart.
Is it reversible?
No. Once the account is deleted it and its contents are gone, and we cannot restore them. If you only want to stop the reminders, turn notifications off in Settings instead — that leaves your lists intact.
